Best Yoga Poses for Back Strengthening

Best Yoga Stretches for the Back

Experts have agreed that regular stretching and strengthening can prevent back issues and pains. The lower back is the most common of back pains. Some causes of back issues can range from incorrect sitting, standing, and lifting to age-related. Prevention of back pain is the key to good health.

One cause of back issues can be tight hamstrings, hips, and poor posture from sitting for long hours or sports-related. With some gentle yoga stretches, you can help release areas of tightness and strengthen the weak areas. It's important to balance your strength work with stretching to reduce imbalances and doing more core work is essential for back health. When we get older our body tightens and changes, so it’s important to adapt our exercise and movements with age and keep moving mindfully.

In Kevala Health online yoga classes we learn correct alignment in all the postures to help strengthen the hips, back, and spine safely. We move slowly and mindfully in our yoga classes, so we become more aware of our body and how it moves. In our live-stream yoga classes, we recommend you bend the knees in bending forwards and avoid strong backbends and twists, to prevent back pain.
